Heirloom 1920s Petticoat with Broderie Anglaise Trim
Heirloom Baby Clothes: Heirloom Baby Petticoats
This sturdy white cotton petticoat was made in England in the 1920s. It is simply styled with a scoop neckline a fitted band waistline a full gathered skirt and a back buttoned closure, with three shell buttons closing the bodice. The hem is accented with a wide 2¼" row of Broderie Anglaise (early English fine eyelet) trim.
This would work well under any heirloom dress, but it is is sufficiently opaque to be worn on its own as a darling summer sundress, a pinafore, or a beach portrait dress. Wouldn't this be darling for a vintage portrait for your baby girl? Then just hang it for a precious nursery decoration!
