Heirloom Madeira White Cotton Romper with Blue and White Embroidered Collar
Vintage Baby Clothes: Vintage Baby Rompers
This beautiful little white cotton romper was handmade in the 1930s in Madeira, Portugal. It features a fine example of Madeira's world famous embroidery. The pintucked chest has rows of openwork and intricate pale blue embroidery. The blue and white scalloped collar has pale blue and white embroidery. The sleeves are finished with embroidered scalloped turn-back cuffs. This little suit has a back buttoned closure with small shell buttons in the crotch, as was customary in 1930s baby clothing. The white belt has two shell buttons.

As with all vintage clothing, this item runs very small. Manufacturer's tag says size 2, but will fit approximately size 9 months.
